Our
History
Prior to 1989, Dan Lawson, working in a VW shop,
dreamed of a service center that would be an
original. A shop that others would seek to
imitate because of its excellence, level of customer
satisfaction, the diversity of products and services
it would offer to VW enthusiasts, including not only
minor and major service, but full rebuilding and
restoration capabilities. After looking around a
while, he found a suitable location at 2560 South
Industrial Parkway in Tempe, Arizona, and on April 1,
1989 he opened up Competition Engineering. We
have been in the same 11,000 square foot property ever
since. Click on the images below to see Dan
Lawson and his family and the shop in the "early
days."
